Are Alpacas judged primarily on fro'age? Like would a healthy alpaca have a bigger fro then one that wasn't so healthy or a pure breed paca? Do breeders use Fro-Gro for that extra oomph right before a big competition? Im intrigued
Oh I could go on and on about the alpaca show circuit. There are three main kinds of competitions: 1. fro-in-a-bag (fleece only) 2. fro-on-the-body (50% fleece, 50% body composition) 3. naked plus fro-in-a-bag (naked alpaca, fleece in a bag, two scores are combined)
Fro-Gro is explicitly outlawed as is blowing out the fro.
So is it fair to say that you stuck with the fro-on-the-body competition? Is there a lot of cheating in the competitions? Probably with the in-the-bag division?

Rudolph is so fat and gorgeous. Silly 'paca! more animal fro photos to come...just as soon as I have 5 minutes near my scanner.
